Announcing GamerEscape.com

The founders and administrators of FFXIclopedia and Eorzeapedia, together with the podcast gurus over at Pet Food Alpha, Limit Break Radio and the Aetheryte Radio Network - are excited to announce their newest project - Gamerescape.com. Gamer Escape draws upon, and expands on, our collective experiences. We're combining the wiki platforms where you can get your information, podcasting platforms where you can listen to your favorite podcasting personalities, wordpress/news platform so you can quickly see what is going on with your favorite game, and of course, forums to allow you to discuss everything game related with the community.

What does that mean for FFXIclopedia?

We've copied the FFXIclopedia wiki content over to Gamerescape in order to seed and expand upon the wiki over there. FFXIclopedia will, of course, remain at Wikia and remain open and available for editing. To be clear, while there have been a few rather public departures from Wikia in the past few months, they are not a factor in our decision. The reality is that Wikia provides a great service for wikis and was a fine home for the past few years. They allow anyone with one click to try their hand at starting a wiki and a community. That is invaluable and, looking at Wikia's growth, has served them well. In light of some the recent public departures, we feel it was important to make this clear.

We are making this announcement because (i) we are truly excited about what we're launching; and (ii) you, the community, should know that the founders and some of the current admins and moderators will not be here, but will be developing the FFXI wiki/forums over at gamerescape.

What else is over at Gamerescape?

In addition to the content from the FFXIclopedia wiki, we have integrated Eorzeapedia - so all of your FFXI and FFXIV information is on the same site, just a click or two away. Also, in addition to FFXI and FFXIV, we've launched WakfuEscape, a platform dedicated to the upcoming Wakfu MMO (distributed by Square Enix). Complete with news platforms, forums and podcasts - we're continuing in our efforts to provide a site where you can get all of your gaming information without having to jump from site to site.

We've learned a lot since 2004 when we started FFXIclopedia, a lot of which is reflected in our new FFXIV and Wakfu wikis. We remain nothing more than a group of gamers at heart who enjoy playing games and helping the community develop a resource for those games. We're looking forward to continuing that effort over at GamerEscape.com. We hope to see all of you there.
