"Combat - everyone should be OP if used right?". Zainspirowała mnie tutaj rozmowa dotycząca ESO.
Wklejam tu, ale bez tłumaczenia bo to trochę roboty:

That might be my opinion but i've noticed one thing that each new games are doing wrong and I think CU is gonna do it finally differently.
ESO / GW 2 / WAR etc. all these games are having as they say "the best things from daoc" - it's not true. They are copying just siege / RVR / etc. Hell yeah these are pretty cool things from daoc, but that's not what made daoc playable for so long.
All the time they are altering combat too much. Combat in daoc was just almost perfect. There can be some things to alter still or mostly add new fun abilities but the most important part is that combat in daoc gave you that feeling of being overpowered on ALL characters.
All characters were unique and if used right they could accomplish something big / they had big impact on the fight. As a wizard I could kill entire grp, as theurghist I could interrupt people to death, as cleric I could heal entire grp... but all that things could be intercepted by hard interrupts by suddenly stealher attack / by the tank who want me to be death / by pets etc. Being OPed was allowed but in order to have 'that moments of glory' you had to think how to positionate yourself, how to support your friends in grp that had that abilities.
You were OP as long as people you fought were doing something wrong or your friends were supporting you good enough. You had benefits for being good. All these new games are making combat that is sorry for you. They allow you to make many mistakes during combat. They think that you are retarted.
All characters had also counters for them (paper, scissor, rock), so yes they were overpowered in some situations but in other they were like meat.
Stealhers had openers which made some people cry, but how the hell the same oped stealhers were dying with even 4-5 of them from one alone tank or alone spiritmaster? Shouldn't they cry more? In daoc there were many things you could cry about in each realm but in the same time there were many things you could be proud of in your character that allowed you to make other people cry
Remember that because of combat mechanic that is making classes OP it makes you remember people who used that abilities right for a long time. Hell i remember people who I played with in 2002 and I haven't seen them since then. How is that even possible? In for example WAR I don't remember totally anyone.
I would like to also add that the beginner zones allows you to fight at the same time a few monsters (at your level) to 'learn' how to play because players might be not experienced....
Geeeesh people in daoc in 2001 when almost nobody played mmo games had mobs from the start that if you pulled 2 you were dead... and somehow people loved that curve of learning.
Monsters won't give levels but there will be some in CU. I'm just showing this as an example in order to show you how game developers thinks about most of the people who play their games. They are making mindless games where you should smile 100% of time. I'm sorry but i have one word for these games - BORING.
