Throughout the whole film I was very much aware that I was watching actors in costume on a sound stage. The sweeping views of forests looked very much like models.

I'm an animator/compositor in this field. Your impressions are exactly what I predicted would happen. Going 48fps was a huge mistake. We shoot elements for compositing at 240fps for the ability time-ramp them... but I would never put anything to film faster than 24fps. It ends up looking like a bad BBC soap opera.
You have a similar problem with flatscreen TV's that feature 'motion-smoothing'... the essentially tween the frames to simulate 48fps+.... and it looks horrible.

48 FPS blew my mind last night. Truly one of the great experiences of my life. It took about 30 min to go from bad BBC soap to an actual breathing and living world. It was if a window to another world was opened up in front of me. Truly, truly magical. I didn't feel like I was watching actors I felt like I was watching wizards and Dwarves in middle earth.
One of the scenes with the eagles blew my mind. I won't go into details but it literally had the whole audience going "whooaaaaaaaaa". At one point I felt a tear in my eye. A 40 year old man who sat beside me was literally cooing like a child.
przez taki mix wiem ze obejrze to w obu wersjach
