An utter disappointment. Where the game Isn't absolutely smacking It's face down to 2-5 FPS on high-end machines with even the most modest of firefights at lowest graphics, Its instead delivering an overwhelming mainstreamed RTS experience whereas you simply spam, spam and spam to win. And I mean it. You can literally hunk up to thousands of queues to produce units in singular factories and have them run there, at the end of time with a nigh infinite amount of resources. And those factories? Why, they go up in mere seconds and can spout out workers even quicker which can also build more factories..
These wouldn't be big problems if it was applied correctly with sufficient amounts of variation but anything can wipe out anything else.. If in a sufficient quantity. Which It will be, because everything has an astonishingly long range and the concept of "walls" in this game is perhaps the biggest laughable thing. Does it block flamers? Nope. It goes through. Does it block tanks? Nope, they do splash damage on say, turrets behind the wall. Do they block artillery? Nope. Do they block airplanes? Go guess. As of right now, literally any base defense is to counter "singlar scout" harassment ordeals and nothing else so sadly, It's a massive gimmick instead of being an integrated feature of the game.
The same goes for alot of the units as well. Take, the flamer for example. Incredibly slow moving and stubby-ranged flamethrower on wheels, boasting "alot of armor" while being 2-3 shot by sniping semi-automatic tanks which do not only splash damage but can also more while firing. I mean, what were they thinking? "Oh, yeah this unit will be great to crawl into enemy bases If they're 95% defenseless, oh man It's gonna wreck so much havoc with that cool fire lol" The resource system is a pathetic collection of endless money pocket pants which can only be expanded upon by increasing your max storage cap with warehouses, the combat is an unitellgible, imbalanced and poorly implemented mess and the "universe seemless combat" ordeal is a gimmck, and nothing more as literally all conflict enders are either planet collisions or uber spaceship ra!p
The fact that the devs were trying to sell this rubbish at first for about 90€ Is enough proof for me of their narrow-sighted child mentalities but playing the game really seals the deal on just how poorly made this game is right now, and how It will almost guaranteed be in the future. Stay away

Wait. It is far from being ready to be played. I'm a huge RTS fan. Planetary Annihilation has been on my radar for the past weeks. I was super excited for the game. As a huge Supreme Commander fan, I wanted something similar with different gameplay. For that point, I wasn't disappointed. You still have a commander and unlimited amount of units to your command. The scale is huge, which make the game more interesting. However, the game lack in terms of performance. I have a good rig, and I'm not shy against graphical settings. When you hit the thirty minutes mark, expect an immense drop in frame rates.
Here's why: you are streaming the game. Your computer is never working hard. My graphic card usually make a bunch of noise due to heat (you get the point), but not with this game. The game needs to be connected to an ongoing internet connection. It destroys the entire experience. Each time you generate a game, you generate a server on the Uber service. When the action is getting high, the game is extremely slow due to poor server maintenance. It's far from being DRM-free. You can't play offline. Nope. Never. Forget it.
So, you get the point: no servers, no game. It's simple as that.
I know, I know, it's an "Early Access" game. Still, the game is out, and I didn't really play since I simply can't. My $60 experience so far was to explore the menu. My games are never loading up because the servers are not responsive. I was extremely excited about the game. I dreamed to play the game. Now, I have nightmares. If you want to play a new RTS experience, give it a shot. It is not that bad. I actually liked it, if I was able to play. Unfortunately, painful drops in performance and weird servers maintenance make the game not fun at all. Try it in a couple months. Simply hold your money for now, or buy Supreme Commander. After all, it is pretty much the same game, but with much more content (and yes, much cheaper).
If you're still skeptical about the performance you might get, go check it out on YouTube. There's plenty of let's plays. You'll eventually encounter - no, you will - bad frame rates. It's like getting a game but the engine is so poorly optimized that the frame rate is awful. You wouldn't get this game for that reason, right? Well, it's the same scenario here, but the cause is the Uber servers.
EDIT: Let's point out one fact (really because 40% are still living in denial) : If you develop a game, you're not likely to scrap months of work. There are servers and it will always remain that way. Simple as that. Any comments such as: "Read the description" or "They promised it..." will be deleted. Get it? I don't want your burden nor do I care. The offline mode may happen, but only on the single payer mode. The multiplayer will FOREVER stay rubbish/garbage. Good for you if you like to stream a game instead of playing it. I don't.
EDIT #2 : Please read the comments before writing yours. Or take a deep breath before writing one... or don't write one at all? I'll state it again, every hate/useless/fanboy/troll comments WILL be deleted. It's a review, I'm not forcing you to like it. Yes, I'm the moderator of my own review and I'll keep it clean. Thank you.
