They don't say who their source is...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a through investigation of the Paladin class they were found to too heavily favor defense. Because of the Paladin's defensive skills, we were unable to give them any abilities that overly affected combat. As a result the Paladin class became one with no weaknesses but at the same time, no strengths. In order to remedy this situation we have decided to reduce the effectiveness of a Paladin's Defensive abilities but at the same time increase thier offense and their ability to help their group.
Also we have revamped the talent trees in order to make the three trees fill the three roles of the paladin. The Retribution tree should now make Paladins good damage dealers, the Protection tree should make them good tanks, and the Holy tree should make them good healers.
Several new spells have been added to the Paladin class!
Holy Strike
Holy Strike is availible to all Paladins level 26 and higher.
At Max rank it will deal Weapon Damage plus 48.
All damage will be holy damage and will therefore not be affected by Armor.
Mana cost is 5% of the Paladin's total mana.
Cooldown of 16 seconds.
Divine Light
Divine Light is an instant cast healing spell first availible at level 50.
1 min cooldown.
Heals for 824 instantly and another 226 over 10 seconds. (at max rank)
Takes 394 mana (at max rank)
Divine Protection has been changed to be a damage shield. At max rank it will absorb 1345 damage and last 30 seconds. The Paladin cannot attack and the spell still causes mobs to attack any other availible target while the spell is in effect.
Blessings now have a duration of 15 mins. The Mana costs have been increased by roughly 22% as a result.
Blessing of Salvation has been changed to reduce aggro by a set amount, similar to the functionality of Fade. The Duration has been decreased to 10 seconds and the mana cost has been decreased. A cooldown of 10 seconds has been added.
Blessing of Protection has been changed to be a talent only spell, it will act as a shield that blocks all physical damage up to 980 at max rank. still causes mobs to attack any other availible target while the spell is in effect.
The Summon Warhorse spell has been changed to use a set amount of mana instead of a % of the total.
The Summon Charger spell has been changed to use a set amount of mana instead of a % of the total
Due to significant talent changes, Paladins will have all talent points refunded and can be respent. Training costs for all talent spell/ability replacements have been significantly reduced.
Holy Tree
The Improved Holy Light talent has been changed to increase Holy Light's healing by 5% per point instead of 4%
Spiritual Focus has switched places with Improved Seal of Righteousness. In addition Spiritual Focus gives a 5% chance per point to resist spell interrupts and silence effects (Kick, Counterspell, etc)
The Improved Flash of Light talent has been changed to affect the amount healed instead of the mana cost
The Improved Concentration Aura talent will add a chance to resist spell interrupts and silence effects to Concentration Aura instead of increasing the chance to avoid damage interruption.
Sanctity Aura now gives a 15% increase to Holy Damage instead of a 10%.
The Improved Seal of Light talent increases the Proc rate of Seal/Judgement of Light instead of the amount healed/duration.
The Divine Strength talent has been replaced by the Divine Gaurdian spell. Divine Gaurdian is a buff that lasts 2 min and heals the target for 10% of their HP and reduces their aggro by a set amount (similar to the functionality of fade). The ability is only triggered when the target reaches 90% or lower HP. The cooldown on Divine Gaurdian is 5 mins.
The Divine Shield spell has been changed to a talent only spell and no longer allows you to use any offensive abilities while it is active. In addition, a Paladin cannot cast any ability on himself. The duration has been increased by 2 seconds and the mana cost has been slightly reduced. Unlike Divine Protection, Divine Shield still causes the Paladin to become invulnerable.
Holy Shock has been replaced by the updated Divine Shield spell.
Protection talents have been changed to greatly increase the effectiveness of a Paladin tank. Based on our tests of a Paladin vs Warrior vs Druid in Bear form, Paladins are now more effective than Bear Form Druids but are less Effective than Warriors. Special care has been taken to ensure Paladins do not replace Warriors as tanks and to keep a role for Druids.
Protection
Improved Blessing of Protection has been changed to give you the spell instead of reducing its cooldown.
Blessing of Sanctuary has been changed to reduce damage taken from all sources by 5% but reduce damage dealt by the target of the spell by 5%.
The effectiveness of the Improved Seal of Fury talent has been doubled.
Improved Seal of Justice now, in addition to increasing the proc chance of the seal, increases the threat it produces by 10% per talent point.
Improved Blessing of Salvation has been changed to increase the duration of the spell by 10 seconds per talent point.
Extra attacks granted by Reckoning now generate increased threat. Also critical strikes that occur while the paladin is sitting will no longer trigger Reckoning.
The Holy Damage caused by Holy Shield has been increased slightly.
The Repentance talent has been replaced by a new spell called Seal of Protection. Seal of Protection reduces damage taken by the Paladin by 10%. Judgement of Protection forces the Target to attack the Paladin for a short time.
The DPS potential of a Paladin who invests heavily in the Retribution tree has been greatly increased. We feel, with the reduction in Paladin defense, this was a balanced change.
Retribution
The effectiveness of the Improved Blessing of Might talent has been increased to 6% per point for a total of a 30% increase with 5 talent points invested.
Benediction and Improved Retribution Aura have switched places.
Improved Retribution Aura has been changed to give 8% increased damage per talent point
Benediction has been changed to give your weapon a 10% chance of dealing 2% of your weapon's max damage per talent point invested. With 5 talent points invested, it gives a 50% chance of proccing, dealing 10% of your weapon's damage. Benediction lasts 5 mins.
Anticipation has been moved to the 3rd tier and replaced by Blessing of Kings.
Percision has been replaced by improved Hammer of Wrath. Improved Hammer of Wrath increases the damage dealt by Hammer of Wrath by 5% per point invested up to a maximum of 15%.
Seal of Command's Judgement has been changed to deal 100% more holy damage than before (i.e. instead of dealing 50 damage when the target is stunned it will now deal 100 damage). In addition, the target's movement is reduced to 90% of normal for 10 seconds. Because of these changes, Seal of Command's Mana cost has been increased.
The damage of Seal of Command's proc has been reduced to half of weapon damage but the proc rate has been increased by 1 proc per minute.
The end talent in the Retribution Tree has been changed to Strike of Retribution. It is an instant strike that deals weapon damage + a fourth of the damage that the current target has dealt to you. If you switch targets than the damage is cleared. All damage dealt by Strike of Retribution is considered Holy Damage. The cooldown is 1 min and the Mana cost is 665.
