Dear xxx,
A large batch of testers was recently introduced to the Roma Victor
Commercial Test to help test the servers before the imminent preorders
(

What follows is a message from the veteran testers and community members
in an effort to make the newcomers feel welcome and perhaps reintroduce
some that haven't logged on for a while.

A Short history of community, development, the GOCaT programme and the
Commercial Test
------------------------------------------------------------
RedBedlam has always maintained a very community-minded approach.
RedBedlam's ethos is that of quality above commerce, meaning that they are
more concerned with delivering a quality product than maximising profit
margins. As result, RedBedlam has made a substantial effort to listen to
the desires of the gamer.
In the initial years, the community had the opportunity to give their
input on the design. A modest but very loyal community evolved on the
message boards. KFR, RedBedlam's Managing Director and Roma Victor's
Project Lead made regular appearances on the forum and actively
participated in discussions.
In February 2002 the GOCaT-programme was announced and since early in
2003, the GOCaT-team has been involved in the testing of the live systems
of Roma Victor. The chores of the GOCaT-team mostly involved bug hunting,
though a large amount of feedback on balancing issues and game content has
also been submitted. With the aid of the GOCaT-team, RedBedlam steadily
developed its live systems and game engine.
Taking direction from the forum community and GOCaT-team, RedBedlam has
made many adjustments to its original designs. This has often led to
expected delays in the development process.
The Commercial Test officially began in May 2005. Since then, the
GOCaT-team has run several economic tests besides their regular bug
hunting duties. The penultimate phase of the Commercial Test commences
when pre-order customers are allowed into the GOCaT programme this
Christmas.
Current client state
------------------------------------------------------------
Right now, we're in a transition period. The live systems are being
finished and we are on our way to the full Commercial Test phase.
Currently we still work with a fairly bare-boned game engine. Most game
systems have been added but many are not visible yet as they have either
been disabled to help clarify other test results or simply unfinished.
As result, you are likely to have to rely on your fellow testers and the
community to make gameplay a pleasant experience. We have successfully
done so in the past and we are confident we will continue to do so.
Future prospect
------------------------------------------------------------
In the coming months, we will see all the features as listed in the State
of the World post become available. Features such as the
elder/master-system will be soon activated, which is an essential aspect
of the early experience for new players since these special NPC's will
offer tutorials, guidance and quests/tasks that will help your character
get started. In the meantime this role is largely fulfilled by
established testers.
The main focus of the GOCaT-programme will gradually shift from bug
hunting to balancing. The game systems will be in-place and more of the
actual game content will be added. Our feedback will be highly important
for balancing the content and game mechanics.
