Generic Strategy Guide
Unlike Abyssea, some Voidwatch Notorious Monsters can require multiple parties. In general, 12 skilled players on the right jobs should be sufficient for most Voidwatch NMs. However, in order to build lights and increase the chance of obtaining better rewards, a large and varied setup of players is useful. With that in mind, here is a bare-bones strategy that will work for most Voidwatch NMs:
- Bring a real tank job with real (non-mule) support. Some monsters will require two tanks. Aegis Paladin is particularly useful for the majority of higher tier battles.
- Earthen Armor and Sentinel's Scherzo make these fights dramatically easier, though all are possible without. Strongly recommended.
- Bio III and Tidal Roar are also very useful.
- Having a Stun order is extremely helpful (most abilities and spells can be stunned on all Voidwatch NMs with Kholomodumo and Lord Asag as the main exceptions), though it is advisable to restrict usage to <50% HP as resistance is built rather quickly (becomes noticeable after 10~20 stuns depending on target and dark magic skill).
- All Voidwatch NMs gain access to higher tier spells and/or stronger TP moves as HP is dropped (typically at 75% and 50% HP). It is wise to hit all weaknesses as early as possible in the fight to avoid having to hold the enemy in a more dangerous state.
- Summoner, Black Mage, Ranger, and Wildfire Corsair are ideal damage sources in the later tiers as they can remain out of AoE of many TP moves and spells.
- If you are after items, you will want to bring many different types of magic and weapon skills/job abilities so that you can trigger both red light and blue light weaknesses.
- Blue Magic, avatar blood pacts, and wyvern breaths are difficult to Proc with due to the dynamics of the abilities and the large range of possibilities.
